Paul Haefele

Paul has over thirteen years of experience in the financial software industry as a quantitative technologist and executive. He was most recently a Senior Architect at Summit Systems, a fully-owned $80MM subsidiary of Misys PLC (London: MSY). Summit is the market leader in derivatives pricing, treasury and risk management software and has deployments in over 350 sites worldwide. He was a core architectural lead responsible for tackling Summit's most complex design and architecture issues. He served as Product Lead for one of Summit's flagship product lines, and was responsible for product functionality, management of the development team, and all aspects of the product's life cycle.

Earlier, Paul established Summit's presence in the Japanese market, sold and implemented Summit's derivatives system at several leading Japanese financial institutions, and grew revenues from zero to $14MM in two years.

Prior to Summit, Paul served as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at ShockMarket Corporation, a financial services startup that was funded by Deutsche Bank, Dr. David E. Shaw and venture firms. In that role he helped lead and build a distributed, fault-tolerant, transaction-heavy application to process real-time data about online retail investors' market impact.

He started his career as a software engineer first at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and at the Industrial Bank of Japan International, both in London. Paul graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Science (Computer Science specialization) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and was among the top graduates of his class.
